The snacks, mini dishes, drinks etc are very nice, can't doubt that. I like especially the surprise with a hot drink, you get for less than 5 pounds the hot drink of your choice and creme brûlée, cake and macaroons. However for marylebone area, the service there has to change immediately since 2-3 pple working there should be tought how to smile and say thank you. they are not rude, but they don't know how to be friendly and that is a shame.
I love Pauls- great service, good prices for London! Do not listen to the bad reviews
Oh dear. I was given poor customer service by the shop assistant who didn't even ask me if I wanted to have my pastry and tea in the cafe or to take away. When I asked if it was ok to eat in, he simply stared at me. The gentleman (dare I call him that!) making my coffee informed me that I was unable to have my drink in the cafe. I told him that I had asked to eat and drink in. Making me feel very small, he sat me down and said that lots of people are waiting. I finished my coffee and pastry very quickly wanting to get out of there and decided to leave a considerable tip to make up for any inconvenience I may have caused. The gentleman (dare I call him that!) said it was not necessary. Nevertheless I felt I ought to pay extra. Today, having visted the shop to but a loaf of bread, I was given poor customer service again by a different assistant who failed to give me my receipt. The gentleman (dare I call him that!)was there again making coffee and he was sniggering. It is all most unpleasant. I do not recommend going there for tea, coffee, pastries, lunch...well, just don't go there. Unfortunatley you will exit, with a bad taste in your mouth. From a most disgruntled ex-customer.
We love Paul Marylebone - we breakfast here every Saturday, and have had nothing but great food and service. I LOVE the Gormandise and Tart Au Citron! Long live Paul!
Just thought I am going to have a lovely breakfast with my wife at the respectable chain Paul in Marylebone - and left utterly disappointed. I chose Eggs Benedict and my wife the bread basket + cappuccino each. Let's start with the good points. The pastries were good, no doubt about it, the cappuccino mediocre, lukewarm and no taste and then my Eggs Benedict came. Two thin slices of average bread, 2 pre-cooked, tepid, leathery bacon, topped with two lukewarm eggs - over £7 I was charged for that - I tucked in to the baguette from my wife - NO FLAVOUR, tough and chewy and cut hours ago. The surroundings were shabby, worn and uncared for, the loo did not have lavatory tissue. Poor show
