Artisan coffee shops aren’t such a rare sight in London these days but that doesn’t mean to say that there aren’t still some that make you stop and pay attention. Located on Leather Lane, Prufrock is one of those that makes you take notice.
Usually coffee shops in London settle on a good bean supplier, expensive grinder and the classic La Marzocco espresso machine; and there’s nothing wrong with that. Prufrock takes coffee even more seriously. It’s baristas are trained by a world champion and it is unsurprising to find out that in the venue’s basement they hold courses and seminars on the processes of coffee making. The building is spacious and neatly designed with bare floorboards, whitewash and some impeccable design touches. Prufrock doesn’t just feel like a place to come and get coffee, it’s a place you want to stay a while and enjoy the space.
The baristas take their craft seriously. You’ll notice the classic espresso machine but you might be more unfamiliar with the halogen lamps, jugs, test tubes and other seemingly random (for the uninitiated) coffee making gadgets. Beyond the excellent coffee you’ll find pastries and light lunchtime snacks. If you’re serious about your coffee or even just intrigued as to what counts as one of the best cups in London, Prufrock is on hand.
