Simply...The Cafe

Ok, it's a dated cafe but run by real friendly local staff. Monmouth coffee miles better than costa and no screaming kids... Sorry yummy mummies :)

The comments in other reviews are wildly out-of-date. There is a new owner, the staff are friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is peaceful, the broadband is FAST (35mb download), the coffee is great (Monmouth), the hours are much longer than it says in the listing (open till 7pm Mon - Thurs; till 9.30 Fri - Sun), lovely peaceful garden under pine trees with birdsong out the back. Can't comment on the food as I'm a strictly coffee and cake (yum) man, but friends I've taken there have enjoyed what they've had. My favourite cafe/bistro in this area.

This cafe used to be a wonderful place to visit, but in the last year has gone down hill, extremely expensive and very dirty !! DO NOT GO THERE !!!!

went in there with my mother for lunch the service was disgusting the food was cold as i had a jacket potatoe and when complaining they said i would have to eat it
the manager was very rude would never go again, then when the bill came it was 9.50 for a jacket with tuna and £8 for a baguette

A nice independently owned cafe in my home town.V nice food.
I prefer it to the Costa a few doors up which tends to be full of screaming kids
