This review is for the ADC branch in 57 Old Brompton Rd. Manageress Aleksandra, Alterations by Zoya.
My husband and I are locals who have lived nearby for 12 years, and use ADC in Old Brompton Rd because it is the nearest neighbourhood shop of this kind. We have always felt the prices are well above the average, and hoped that this would translate into good service. We paid £20 in order to get a 10% discount on our regular sheets laundry for one year.
For the first time I used the alterations service to take up my trousers at the hem and in at the waist. I am an experienced veteran of hundreds of alterations over my lifetime. Within two hours of wearing the trousers the thread unravelled and the hems came down, which is when I noticed the edges were raw, and not even overlocked. The waist had not been made tight enough, so the trousers slipped down a bit to make everything worse. Previously when I have returned to a tailor to make adjustments, this has been done without demur. Not this time! Zoya was not there, and always seems to be under pressure of work when she is.
Aleksandra used every argument in the book to try to make it MY fault, and said they would not re-do the trousers unless I paid again. Firstly she said I had agreed to the "measurements", although no measurements were taken, it was all done by sight, and the work was not yet completed. Secondly she said I must have lost weight which is why the trousers were too loose (if only!). Not only that, but Zoya was the best tailoress in the whole company, she did men's suits and wedding dresses, so she could not possibly have got it wrong! When I collected my tailored trousers, I did not try them on (that was clearly a mistake!) I said if there was any problem I would bring them back, as I always have to tailors. There was no disagreement on this at the time.
Appallingly bad attitude and very poor service, we feel quite insulted that she treated us as if we were trying to get something for nothing and were not regular customers already paying through the nose.
Aleksandra indicated that "the boss" would not be happy if the tailor re-did the job for free. I suspect that she gets a bonus if problems like this do not arise, alternatively her salary may be docked if they do. She certainly fought very hard NOT to make it right for me. The customer is certainly NOT right here. Profit is clearly king, which is why we are taking our custom elsewhere.

American Drycleaners Kew altered my pants but the work was poor and the stitching came undone within a short time. I took the pants in and asked for the alterations to be fixed, they took the pants and said they would fix them. When I returned a week later the manager was very rude and said they would not restitch them and told me I'd need to pay again. So, if you are looking for American quality and customer service, please avoid this place, it is overpriced, poor quality and unprofessional.
