I have just completed on a house purchase which took a lot longer than it should have done. If it wasn't for the unstinting hard work and dedication of Jack Rampling at the Lewisham High Street branch, I may have had a nervous breakdown. I would recommend him and/or his colleagues any time.

I have been buying and selling property for over 18 years . This sale in London has been challenging and I can say the service I have had from Acorn has been outstanding . Communication is the key to most things and Jack has been an ambassador for his company . Never before have I experienced such care and help in what is a stressful time even if all is going well. My sale was particularly difficult but the support from Acorn in liasing with numerous people has just been tremendous thank you guys you kept me saine and saw it through to a great conclusion . Would recommend ten fold to anyone wanting to buy or sell

I'm a landlord I've been using Acorn in finding me a tenant as well as managing for me. It's only been two months but I can say it hasn't been a good experience at all. They charged my tenant for professional cleaning that was cleaned by me! I met the tenant and found out. They charged me for works that was never done, I raised the issue mid Nov, finally acknowledged my e-mail 22 Dec, still unresolved 7 Jan. Everything you ask them you have to do multiple times before you even get a response. I won't go into the full story but their incompetence ended up costing me two weeks without rent.

If you have any sense you will avoid any acorn lettings like the plague.

We moved into our brand new flat a few weeks ago, and we have had nothing but problems. To make matters worse, whenever we ring up, we are passed from pillar to post with noone seeming to take any responsibilty for any problems. We have been without a working shower since we moved in, have only just had our oven fixed so were living of takeaway meals and we basically have no hope of getting any of our problems sorted anytime soon.

In general we have never had a good experience from renting from anyone, but the fact that there is noone we can ring directly to get everything sorted has to make this one of the worst.

I just started using Acorn to manage my property. Two weeks in I have received no copies of contracts, references, and no sign of any rent. I am trying to be constructive so I would advise them to:
Be nice to their landlords, not ring them up every day with every little problem that the tenant has. When the landlord baulks at the third thing that has gone wrong this week that's going to land them with a huge bill don't get all arrogant, show some empathy for the poor sod who's not even going to cover the mortgage, and would have been better off selling, but was persuaded that Acorn could provide peace of mind and some revenue, and is now tied up for the next 12 months.
Reply to emails.
Learn some property law.
Try be be a wee bit professional. Don't just send out a contractor without telling the landlord then ring up the landlord saying "if you don't agree to paying this massive bill within the next two minutes then your tenant won't have any hot water/will die of a gas leak/the ceiling will fall down".
Avoid avoid avoid.
Have your say
