Alan's

This place is a real find for anyone looking for South East Asian groceries in the Canary Wharf/Bow/Limehouse area of East London. I used to go to Greenwich for ingredients for Thai cooking. Now I can just pop down the road to Alan Supermarket.

They sell a treasure trove of authentic south east asian and chinese goods, including palm sugar, kaffir lime leaves, galangal, large bunches of mint and coriander, thai basil, coconut milk, fruits such as rambutans, etc etc, which the big supermarkets either don't sell, or sell at inflated prices. There are a few minor gaps - they didn't sell holy basil or the creamed coconut in packets I'm used to, but nonetheless their range of stock is enormous for such a small and unassuming shop.

Helpful staff, highly recommend.
