I had a terrible experience at the Putney salon. My hairdresser (An) overslept and forgot about my appointment. They couldn’t reschedule for the same day, failed to apologise and seemed to also find the whole situation funny. They also prolonged refunding me for the pre-paid appt. Avoid at all costs.

I went to Regis Putney and thought James was a brilliant hairdresser. He listened, did exactly what I asked and made some very good suggestions on which products I use and they actually work. He was a very pleasant person as well unlike some hairdressers I visited who freak out over a split end. I was very impressed.

I am surprised that other reviewers were not happy. I suppose it depends on the stylist. I have had my hair cut several times by James, who I think is the manager: he is an excellent cutter and stylist and, equally importantly, he is not an air head like many other hairdressers and you can, but it is not obligatory, have a proper conversation with him without inane questions and comments you get from your ordinary hairdresser. He is friendly and can talk to you but if you want to read a book, he is happy with that too.
I highly recommend the establishment.

My suggestions for improvements at Regis at Putney would be:
1. The hairstylist to be able to understand English
2. To not do the opposite of what the client asks for.
3. To not be in a rush to get the client out of the door.

A little bit cheaper than most salons but really not so cheerful.
The staff here really are very unfriendly, especially the receptionist. If you want the same colour each time then I suggest you make a note of the colours yourself as they apparently delete your details if you didnt give them your address x number of years ago when you first visited, nevermind that they never asked for it!!
I seem to spend on average 2 hours 20 minutes in there for half a head of highlights - no cut or blowdry, last time I mentioned that I would like to try and be out in an hour and a half, not unreasonable I don't think, as I needed to get to a suprise birthday party outside of London. 2 hours 15 mintues later I was out and running very late. On the plus side, although it can be slightly hit and miss, the highlights do come out fine (bar one occassion when it didnt look any different but that was a few years ago) so if you have time on your hands and don't mind an unfriendly atmosphere then go for it!
I keep going back because of the price and the fact that you can get relatively short notice appointments but in future I shall be a bit more organised and pay a bit more to have what is supposed to be an enjoyable experience!
