Please note I attend the salon at short notice and achieved excellent results my overall experience was impressive.
I had looked online and spotted From the Root salon for my first ever. I was feeling very apprehensive as I really didn't know what the outcome would be due to time constraints and not so helpful reviews.
The hairdresser took time to explain the condition of my hair and provided me with helpful techniques.
I have to say Rose was amazing and ensured my hair was perfect. This treatment has totally changed the look and feel of my once out of control frizzy hair to smooth, shiny and sleek. It is now so easy to manage. I could not recommend this salon highly enough!!

I've been going to FTR for over 10 years and have never had one complaint. My stylist gives good advice to what would suit me and top quality products are used. I have never waited for more than 5 minutes for my appointment. I would not go anywhere else to have my hair done. All of the ladies that work there are fabulous at what they do!!!!

The staff are very friendly and helpful. My hair is in an amazing condition thanks to the advise and tips from the stylist. I love going to from the roots to get my hair done. Will never go to another hairdressers again.

They need to stick to the appointment times they give out, my appointment was for 13:00 I got seen at 16:00!!! To me this is not acceptable, they are also very rude to say the least!!! If I was desperate to get my hair done for 2nite, believe me I would not be giving them any form of my money!!!! HATE THIS PLACE

Have been coming here for years and never had a problem. Yes, they are busy at weekends and you sometimes have to wait, but show me an Afro hairdressers that isn't! Just had a great head massage with my all natural treatment. Bliss! I'm a big fan and always will be - so much so that I drive from Shooters Hill to come here as I refuse to go to a haidressers in Woolwich!

I used to a regular at from the root until they cut 50% of my hair off after asking for a TRIM.I went back the next day in tears as it after the shock had worn off, and i then noted another girl crying after having her hair cut too. Avoid, they are too busy/relaxed to listen to the customer.

I have been to this salon a few times over the years alone and with friends and have never come out satisfied.
Weather you book an appointment or not you will not be seen on time and if you have made an early appointment i.e. 10am, 9 times out of 10 the shop is not even open!
The décor is nice the staffs are friendly but considering the slow pace of the shop and the told un-organisation they need to be to keep customers that have been waiting mildly happy. They seem to make the price up as they go along as there is not price list available or in site at the shop.
The manager is very filghty and if she has the pleasure of doing you hair beware of the fact that you are not her first priority. She will properly have to run out to do other odd jobs.
the last time I went there she actually did my hair and it turn out terribly after spending the whole day in the shop my hair turn out orange and I was charged £100 (ever though I was previously told starting at 25) and when I protested and said she is the hair dresser and should know how to manage different hair types she said "you cant blame it on me I’m just the hair dresser its your hair you should know how it will react!" I received no apology, no discount.
my hair is now so over processed that i cannot do anything but wait till it grows out!
What I would say, if you need a quick perm and some plaits done and you've got all the time in the world then by all means take the gamble! But what I actually believe is that there are not any really good afro hairdressers in Lewisham so most people believe that this is a good one and thats the reason why i kept going back.
I personally believe this salon is over priced and fool people by the décor and smiley faces; however they are un-organised, unprofessional and unadvisable!

This salon is the best that I know of in the south east of london. Staff are professional,friendly, approachable, diligent and knowledgeable stylists.

tranquility at it's best, had a good experience. Staff are professional, friendly with a good humour. Will definetly be going back there.
