'Delight Kebab House' is the only proper kebab outlet on Askew Road. There are many large pubs in the area so I imagine they do a fair trade even though the two Fish & Chips restaurants nearby look more inviting. The shop exterior is a little dingy and that impression stays true once inside as well.

On my first visit the person before was being served a Chicken Doner that was being re-heated on the grill. This is generally not an ideal way to experience any spit kebab so I opted for a small Lamb Shish. The meat looked a little fattier compared to the better places I frequent, but after being cut up into MANY small pieces during the grilling process the end result was fine but lacked the tender juiciness that I really like.

The Pita bread was lightly grilled, just as I like it.
The salad was average but gets an extra point for having red AND white cabbage available.
The chilli peppers were very small but tasty.
The Chilli Sauce was GOOD. It was served warm from the Bain Marie and was spicy hot and flavoursome.

Service was prompt and polite but somewhat dour. Maybe the cold weather had dampened their spirits.

I returned a few days later and was pleased to see they were just firing the Doner spits up so I chose a mixed Doner. It was pretty good, especially when covered in loads of the Chilli sauce!
The Chicken Doner was nicely spiced and did not get overwhelmed by the stronger Lamb. The Lamb itself was OK but had that generic taste, I would bet good money it is factory made.
At £5.20 it is 20p more than the superior Mixed Doner from 'Acton Hill Kebab & Grill' I regularly enjoy but 'Delight Kebab House' still gets a thumbs up from me if you are in the area and in the mood.
