I think this place is under new ownership. I have used Roman Empire for at least 7 years and never had a bad meal. However the last 2 deliveries (Feb and March) were terrible. All dripping in oil. No spring onion with the duck pancakes. Horrible sauce. Fatty pork and plastic chicken (not the white breats meat its always been). Not using them again.

The best Chinese takeaway in London. Food was fab, will travel miles to get my food from here. Great Staff.

The service was good but unfortunately, I can't say the same about the food. I ended up throwing most of the chow mein and didn't enjoy the tofu dish at all. It was bland and the noodles tasted like they'd been overcooked. If anyone from Roman Empire is reading this, please try the chow mein and tofu dishes from Beijing House, Balaam Stree, Plaistow. Sorry to be critical.

The Roman Empire has been in Roman Road for Donkey's years and as such has built up a popular fan base with the locals. The curry sauce they produce is to die for along with the sweet & sour spare ribs which makes for a great finger licking good time!
I should recommend the sweet & sour pork with noodles, the chicken battered balls & special fried rice along with prawn crackers and a bottle of drink. Sit back watch TV tucking in to your chinese meal!!!
The perfect night in.
