After exhaustive research of studios and portfolios, I decided to go to Primitive for my first piece. After several conversations with Darren (the very knowledgeable owner), I decided upon my piece and artist and went for it. The resulting tattoo (three hours work) was incredible. I went back there for a much bigger piece (twenty two hours) and was equally delighted. Not only are the artists superb, but Darren absolutely will not allow you to have any tattoo that falls below what he considers to be acceptable - and his standards are high. Both times, I showed him my ideas and he improved upon them immeasureably before work began. I was utterly impressed by the whole operation, and my artist (Istvan) is amazing. I cannot recommend the place highly enough. If you're a tattoo novice and decide to go here, please do some research about what you'd like to have - contrary to what you may have seen on Miami Ink, they will not come up with ideas for you. However, they do know what does and doesn't look good, and you can trust their judgement - I've seen them turn down what would have been quite lucrative work because they did not consider the design to be of sufficient quality. You might consider this to be a snobbish attitude, but you'd be wise to trust them - I did and got fantastic work. If you go to their website, my tattoos are the aeroplane and the jet engine side profile in Istvan's section. There isn't a day goes by that I don't look at them and feel glad I've got them. Go on - life's too short! And remember - you'll have it forever, so don't settle for anywhere less than the best. I consider Primitive to be very much in that category.

I've had two pieces done here, and I was very pleased each time, so much so that the second time, I brought my girlfriend here for her first piece. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, and excellent after care. Highly recommended.
