I have been going to Louise for my Brazilians for 15 years, she is amazing! Fast, efficient and a really sweet girl too!

Waxing is painless and so quick. Plus had a blow dry and it was brilliant. the lady who did my hair was lovely too. Took my little boy back to get his hair chopped for the first time too and they were so sweet. Have been going for years and they're always great. Great cake shop next door too!

Went here for a beauty appointment. Asked for a very experienced person on arrival was approached by a young girl called loraine.
I was panicking and was made to feel at eas with her welcoming attitude.
Wax was one of the BEST waxes I've had by far!!! Wouldn't go anywhere else again!!

Just had my hair done here for the first time, and wish I'd read these reviews beforehand. The stylist didn't really listen, I was left with hair that looked worse than before I went. Very disappointed. Half way through, mentioned that toner was an extra charge of £15. Should have known from the cash only that this wasn't a professional place. I'd say best to avoid for anything more than a basic trim. Over priced and out of their depth.

Disappointing. The hairdresser put so much 'product' on my hair (3 different types) that it looked lank and greasy and I had to wash it the same day. The person washing my hair yanked it around, asked if I wanted a head massage, but then forgot to do it. And it's odd that they only take cash, no cards. They could improve by having a better attitude (everyone from the receptionist to the hair washer and hair dresser had an 'I can't be bothered' attitude), taking more care when washing hair and using less 'product'. The location and prices are reasonable.

I just got off the phone, trying to book an appointment for a mani and pedi on the weekend. I was told that I would have to come in during the week to pay a cash deposit for this and couldn't make an exception as I work late. Very rude!

I have had several treatments here including Lazer, I was surprised how experienced the staff were, most other salons had very young girls doing the treatments, this salon was staffed by very experienced and proffessional therapists. I have recommended this salon to several of my friends.

I had the worst fake tan of my life done at this salon. The therapist joked and laughed and seemed very haphazard as she slapped it all over me which made me slightly nervous, but I just assumed she was really confident of the process. When I washed the residue off the next morning I had deep orange stains along the sides of my feet, on my ankle bones, wrists and elbows, as well as long white strips down the back of my calves. The treatment completely ruined an (expensive!) weekend abroad as I was forced to spend my time in long sleeves and long trousers with no chance to going near the pool. You'd have to try seriously hard to get it this wrong tanning at home, never mind at a salon! It was completely unbelievable and not something you'd ever expect to see from a salon this side of the 90's. I hope it doesn't ruin too many more special occasions for others.

I had a bad electrolysis treatment at 171 Hair and Beauty in Islington. I have had electrolysis before, so I know what to expect, but this time the treatment was more painful and I was left with marks.

I write this review to warn others to avoid having this treatment here as although it is cheap, you will not be cheerful. The beautician was digging the needle, actually wiggling it about in each follicle, which is not normal and lead to the increased pain. After the treatment in some areas I spots formed due to bacteria, and I have also been left with marks.

I have since found someone reputable from the Institue of Electrolysis website listing who knows exactly what she is doing.

Went in for a perm after having been quoted at first £55 to £65 which was then raised to £65 to £75(which I at point of booking made clear was the most I was willing to pay.
I had informed my hairdresser that this was my first perm.
He spent about 2min drying my hair at the end and charged me an other £30 for this!
This was done without any informed consent (and as I write this, my hair is still partially wet).
His excuse was that this is supposed to be standard practice. I have never ever had that happen to me before. Like my perm, but will never ever go back there.
There was no appology at the end (they took of £9?!?!?) as if that would make this sort of thing okay.
Had a nice facial and an okay haircut there just 2 weeks earlier but as I value service and honesty, I will be taking my business else where.

I have been to this place about 6 times every time very positive apart from once there this very horrible trainee boy washed my hair put water in my eyes and was not very polite but I don't think he works there any more. But my hair cuts always really good.

171 did a FANTASTIC job on my bikini wax: quick, painfree and really good value for money!

The beautician wasn't particularly chatty, but that suits me.
