Possibly the worst experience I've ever had with any vet service, I wouldn't even give them one star.
We had a litter of newborn kittens, all of which seemed to be having trouble with the mother cat providing milk. We called up as the issue began in the middle of the night and were told not to bring the kittens down as there was nothing they could apparently do and they said they had no kitten milk? (bare in mind this is a 24 hour EMERGENCY vet, surely they should provide this knowing they come across orphaned kittens its a big chain, they can most certainly afford kitten milk!) they offered no help and suggested no alternatives basically insinuating that the kittens will die and its unavoidable and there is nothing they could do.
Fast forward to the next evening, we wanted to bring one in as he had gotten weak & lifeless. We had been warming them and looking after them ourselves as the mother was not doing her duty. We phoned them up and the reception instantly asked about payment stating that we need to pay before we can bring this dying kitten in, they wasted a lot of our time as we are with Cats Protection and I am a fosterer and they said that I would need them to approve of it before we could bring him in. I told them its the middle of the NIGHT, how am I suppose to get ahold of them in the middle of the night to ASK FOR PERMISSION to bring in a DYING KITTEN. There was a lot of back and fourth and we took the kitten in. The vet on duty was awful, I have no words for her. She took the kitten in and a minute later, with no respect or decency brought the kitten back into the reception room full of people to announce that the kitten had died and told us she would not do CPR on him. They didn't even have the decency to tell us privately, she just handed us the limp kitten and said 'he is dead', not any respect or comfort and left me there extremely upset. She couldn't even take us aside, or even show any respect and never even mentioned why he may have died. They only seemed to care about the cost.
Later on in the evening, we monitored the other kittens for any signs of problems, we were on stand by and decided to take them in without calling as they would probably say the exact same thing. How can you call yourself an emergency vet but delay emergencies asking for payment? the first kitten would have survived yet they completely delayed us going to them as they kept telling us we couldn't bring the kitten as they had to get permission through Cats Protection, even after I had told them I was in contact and that they would approve it in the morning as it was the MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT and I am always in contact with them as I am part of CP.
On the way there the other kittens began to get increasingly weak. One kitten passed on the way there, the other one was holding on and the last one seemed to be doing ok. We got there and asked to be seen ASAP as the delay had basically caused the first kitten to pass. She took them away, made us sign a form about payment (because thats all they care about) and then said that two of them have died. She never made any effort to save the one that was holding on, as it was still moving when we arrived. I understand kittens are fragile but she made no attempt. The last kitten was doing okay, mewing and alive, we asked for them to keep her there as we wanted to give her the best chance of survival with all the equipment to help keep her alive. The vet responded 'well you're going to have bottle feed them eventually' so she didn't want to do it. We just wanted her monitored for the evening
I don't even think she did as the kitten died. It definitely had a chance of survival as it was the strongest one. Considering they had no kitten milk it wouldn't surprise me if they decided to just let it die themselves/put it down as I know it could have survived. I have been around kittens for most of my life and I know it had a chance. I would never recommend them to anybody. They have blood on their hands. Cold and heartless and care about money over the animals.
