An old school family business in the heart of the Strand. The servicing of my automatic watch had been botched (twice) by another firm, and most watchmakers wouldn't touch it. The guys at Alsal were very approachable, gave knowledgeable advice and immediately inspired confidence. I left the watch with them and they repaired the automatic winding mechanism (without needing to order the spare they warned might be needed), adjusted the timekeeping (it previously lost 10 seconds/day and now gains just over a second/day) and did so very quickly. They charged less than I was originally led to expect and didn't charge for return postage. So refreshing.

Alsal watches fully deserve their 100% star rating and I shall use them in future for any mechanical watch repair.

Very prompt and excellent value. They fixed the broken bracelet on my watch and also adjusted the speed for only £25, whereas the manufacturer (Tissot) had quoted £193. I couldn't be happier!

Without exception the best service in the City.

Thank you so much for persevering with my watch and finding a way to mend it. I am absolutely delighted.

Alsal are just fantastic - they have the increasingly rare ability to repair mechanical watches and even ancient ones that require spare parts from long defunct manufacturers. Not only that but they are amongst the most capable, friendly people to deal with - REAL people.
I cannot recommend them strongly enough

This has to be THE go to place in London for watch repairs.
Nothing phases them and they are very knowledgeable.
Their prices seem totally reasonable - I would trust them 100% not to rip me off.
They are also fast.

I had a local place try to repair my watch. They did OK but couldn't fix replace the back of the watch so not ideal. I was recommended this little shop and a) they were very friendly, b) they sorted out the problem in about 2mins and c) they said it was no problem and didn't charge me!!

I will be going back here for all my watch batteries and repairs. Reliable, experienced, friendly and fair.

After having trawled websites for watch battery servicing, you'd be shocked at the High St names who said disdainfully "we send it away, six weeks". Which led me to positive reviews of this family business I'd never heard of. At the Strand, the battery was changed in five minutes, all with knowledgable advice and the warmest of service. You get scared that businesses like this will disappear in time - yet the charismatic owner (Guvan) and his son's knowledge & warmth hint that this brilliant business will hopefully endure. I'll return to sort a long-standing problem with a ring resize.

I cannot recommend this family business highly enough; I would have liked to award it more than ten out of ten. On each of many visits over very many years I have been greatly impressed by the family's knowledge, skill and courtesy. If that were not enough, their charges are extremely reasonable; at times they seem reluctant to charge anything at all. Long may it prosper.

Can you give a place 12 out of 10?

This is an utterly brilliant shop, where people know what they are doing, are highly skilled, experienced craftsmen, have a passion for their craft and are absolutely delightful to deal with.

I took my father's old watch in to be assessed as it wasn't working. Tim had a proper look at it, fixed the problem in a jiffy whilst I waited and wouldn't take any payment! He then changed the strap whilst in no time, for a lovely leather strap all for £15.

Fantastic people, amazing service and they support the best football team in the country 12 out of 10!

The company is exemplary in terms of consideration, expertise and general helpfulness. Having had my Omega thoroughly serviced in under two weeks at acceptable cost (as distinct from astronomical quotes and vague promises elsewhere) the people are simply the best in the business.

I just found this gem of a shop - a minor problem with a watch that was fixed by the time they promised, for a price thay had quoted. Very satisfied with the service and very friendly too - can't ask for more than that.

I have been to Alsal Watches many times over many years. They are true artisans, knowing their business and they actually take the backs off watches and do repairs. They will never, ever, sell rubbish. I bought a Royal London watch some years ago from them, on their recommendation, as a robust unpretentious watch that would withstand abuse. The price was suspiciously reasonable but it has never let me down. It has a really good, strong, bracelet that doesn't hang on flimsy spring pins. Well worth a very long diversion and don't be put off by the shop's appearance.

Recommended by Alan Kaye Watch shop on the Strandsince they don't service Longines. I had tried two other shops before that wanted 4-6 weeks and £220 to service my watch.

Alsal did a full service of my Longines in 4 days for £110!

The watch had stopped working even with a new battery and now works perfectly.

Opposite the Royal Courts of Justice away from prime Strand real estate prices so pass on savings to you. All work done on permises. Closed weekends.

Great service and price!

I was running out of time to find my wedding ring so I randomly asked Alsal Watches to make me a bespoke ring. I work at King's College and they are very close so risked it without seeing any reviews.

I collected it today and it was so much more than I expected I cried (sorry Guven). It was a very intricately carved vintage style ring and Guven made it truly beautiful in every sense.

Thank you so much Guven!!! I never imagined it would be so beautiful, you have made my dream ring and I can't thank you enough.

I highly recommend them for all jewellery needs, not just watches.

I have been going to Alsal for many years, mainly for repairs and servicing of jewellery and antique watches. I have always found them reliable, honest and trustworthy, and their customer service is outstanding. I would recommend them without reservation.

Came here just to add the praise at how excellent this establishment is. Have been coming here for any watch trouble and they have always been amazing. Most recently, when my watch stopped almost a year after servicing, they fixed it for no charge. Would highly recommend.

I have just purchased a bespoke diamond engagement ring from Alsal Watches and had excellent service throughout.

After coming highly recommended by my friend who also purchased his engagement ring from them, I was very impressed with the friendly and professional service offered. They provided me with a range of diamonds to chose from and were able to set the ring within the tight time frame I needed it in.

Every time I went into the shop it was obvious the number of repeat customers they must have, which reflects the high level of service they offer! I will definitely be going back!

A great place. I live in France and when my old Omega watch battery expires I have it replaced by Alsal, either by mail or visiting. And when I have my hair cut nearby, the hairdressers are all complimentary about the family. What a nice bunch!

The best watch shop in London, by a country mile. It will be a sad day if they ever have to move away from this prime location. To say they look after their customers would be putting it VERY lightly. Every trip there is a pleasure.

Really, really, impressed. I was initialy a bit dubious about leaving my watch here because it is a smaller shop and it looks a bit dated from the outside, but I followed a colleague's recommendation. I am so pleased I did.

I brought in a very old and unusual solar-powered watch for repair. I had no idea what was wrong. They sourced a very rare spare part and replaced. I had a slight (unrelated) problem a few weeks after, and they did the follow-up entirely free. On the second visit I stupidly forgot to leave me details, and they went to some considerable trouble to track me down (successfully).

Lovely people, nice place of business, it is rare in London.

To be honest, I wish every watch repair shop was like this.

They are so efficient and very reasonably priced .I have recently had a ring redesigned by the eldest son of the family, I am thrilled with the results..This small shop is a hidden gem in the Strand and I would highly recommend them...

I visited Alsal, having seen great reviews on this site, for work on two watches - one a battery change and the second to seek advice regarding a broken winder. I was hugely impressed by the service. Both watches were fully operational/repaired within an hour and at an incredibly reasonable price. I will certainly use this shop again and would recommend to anyone.

I've been going there on and off for about 5-7 years. They are always really helpful with the wide range of watches I have asked them to work on, or have bought from them and have always delivered as promised. It's a pleasure to be able to review them well.

Outstanding service. I was directed by Austin Kaye; my Rolex bracelet needed a couple of links taken out but the screws were badly damaged. Others had failed, Alsal succeeded although links had to be carefully broken. No charge; for me the little bit of gold left behind was good value. How refreshing to find real craftsmen

These people are terrific. They listen and come up with constructive solutions. I use them quite often and am lucky to have them close to my place of work. I don't give them a 10 because I don't want them to think that they can't improve.
