I didn't watch it this year. From the clips I've seen it sounds like Peter Kay wasn't getting many laughs, was that the case?

I think his comments after the guests left the stage were very funny.

I read somewhere that there was not much laughter from the audience as there was so much going on and so much noise that they either didn't hear him or were distracted.

I think Liam would make a good host next year! Imagine that!

This is exactly how it seemed watching that clip. Kind of like Peter Kay was talking to a room full of people who were talking to each other and not listening.
