Apparently someone named wenwenzi has commented on this forum but I cannot find the comment, has it been deleted? If it has its a shame as I would have liked to have seen the comment

It was probably Spam. AIL wouldn't delete it if it wasn't something harmful/pointless.

Just sent an email out to Pinewood, to see if I can get a job there. You know, start up as a runner, then work through the company in various other areas. :)

If they do I will take it :) (I only live about an hour away (though I can't drive :/ ))

I can always get the train or rent out somewhere. But this is in place just in case The Hobbit stuff fails.

They are filming Banking on Mr Toad this month at Pinewood. You should phone up and ask about working on that set. I find it better to ask about a specific production, as those who work at Pinewood can't get you a job on the films that come there. Does that make sense?

Oh right I get you, well I will give it a while as I have got a lot of things to do in January and a bit of February which I forgot about. Thanks very much for the tip!!!!

Actually, don't phone Pinewood about Banking on Mr Toad. I have phoned twice now and both times they have said that filming isn't based there. Even though PCR tells me it is... :confused2: Don't know what's going on there...

Anyway, I found out who is dealing with the film and I have gotten an email address for them. I think February may be too late to contact them. Apparently they start filming early this year. PCR is my sauce though, and it has already been wrong about the location...

Oh right. I was planning to do that in a few weeks when I got my college work out of the way. Ah well, thanks for the heads up!!! Damn PCR!! haha
I emailed Double Negative Visual Effects (the people that created the CGI Hogwarts for Deathly Hallows Part 2) and asked if there were any runner positions available (I would like to work in visual effects as well.....i know, ambitious) and they have said I can post in a CV but I have to fill in a form online which has loads of detail on there asking me about programmes and things I have never done!!! Might as well go for it anyway!! My only issue is.......is that I am currently in full-time education studying 4 A2 Levels which I finish in June/July time. If I apply and get the job then I will have to pull out of college when I am so close to finishing my A Levels :/

This is the first incorrect info I've had from PCR. Either that, or PCR know something Pinewood don't...

I think for a visual effects job you are going to be doing computer work mainly, amongst other things, maybe mathematical, rather than a runner job in the same sense as on set. Jobs like that you need to be trained in. You may get in on work experience. In all honesty though, and without sounding like your mother (!), I think you should wait until you finish your A Levels. By all means, get all your contacts now and let people know you exist, but there will still be plenty of jobs when you finish school. Although I loved Uni, I also couldn't wait to get out so I could start looking for acting work. It was a great feeling to finish and be 'free'. July will come round sooner than you think :)

Yeah I figured that, but I love ocmputer work, i just can't afford the software to practice. THe job description of The runner is: they are required to answer the phone, work on Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook etc. Which I can do. also running around cleaning the place and handing out notes, drawings, scales, faxes etc. around the area. Which I can do also. They had a video which had someone who knew nothing and had no experience but started as a runner - become a generalist TD who works a little bit in every single area. It sounded promising. Oh no I completely agree! Mum and Dad said if it was for New Zealand for 18 months then yes, but if it is here then no. I will ask them if I can do some work experience as a runner in April. I have my courseworks out of the way, as well as resits, and its revision from then on which I can do :) Does this sound good?? Please tell me if it does not?

Oo, yes, very promising! If that's a way in and you don't need any experience then yes, go for it! Well, go for it after school... lol. Maybe let them know that you finish school in June/July and if it is possible to get on board then. It may work in your favour, as they will see how serious you are, but also how you are dedicated and committed to your education. Are you saying you would do the work experience in April when you have revision to do? Hummm. It depends how you feel really and if you could cope. I suppose you can't really give an answer until you are offered the w.e and are told what times it will be etc. I'd wait to hear from them and take it from there.

They emailed me back today and said they do not do work experience but I can still apply in the summer for a job when my college is finished. But it depends on if I want to go to unicversity and study Film Production, Technology and Visual Effects for 3 years. Yeah I wrote it and then thought about it, not a good idea.
