Where's good to live South London?

I'm starting a job in the Oval area of London in January and have no idea at all about where to live (I live in Manchester now). I'm 25, single and looking for somewhere fairly pleasant but not too dear. Where shall I live?

I'd say Clapham is probably your best bet. The areas directly around the Oval aren't that great (in my opinion
).
Clapham is full of young trendy types and is getting better as more of it is developed. The old town area is probably about the most pleasant area.

Yeah, stay well away from Brixton/Stockwell. It will be tempting as Oval is just up the road. I lived their for six months, as soon as it gets dark the crack-heads come out to play. They can get really pushy and menacing asking for money and they are EVERYWHERE. If I were you I would look south west. Earlsfield, Clapham, Putney, Southfields - nice places
