Good thinking! Ok so what about relaxing? I mentioned I'm a country girl, how do I get away from the hustle of the city life?

As mentioned you can get a train anywhere!

Public transport here is not like the USA at all, we have very good rail links to many towns outside of London, so within an hour you can be somewhere nice and rural.

Dont forget also we have lots of huge parks. When it gets a bit much a trip to Hyde, St James', Regents Park and others can be a nice getaway : )

And there's some nice outdoor ice rinks in the winter, like at The natural history Museum and Hampton Court Palace. They look great at night time

Can I travel safely by myself around the city and to outer London areas by myself as a woman?

Well I'm a woman and have travelled around London for years on my own and been fine.

There's the obvious stuff to avoid, like alleys and dodgy areas, things like that. And being aware of your surroundings and who's around you. There are people out there who do bad things, but I can say nothing's ever happened to me or any of the women I know.

So long as you're careful and alert, then you can travel safely for sure.

Be alert, if its late or dark try to stick to well lit roads, if on transport sit near large groups of people so you dont get trapped by yourself.

Few women I know have ever had trouble, but that doesnt mean you arent at risk, and shouldnt be very aware of your surroundings.
