Er, no.

90 years ago, in 1918, the armistice agreed between the Allies and Germany came into effect at 11am, effectively ending The Great War. This was preceeded by several nations signing armistice agreements with the Allies which left Germany weakened and unable to continue with war.

Both sides continued in a state of war, though under ceasefire, until the Treaty of Versailles was signed in 1919.

Was that for the first world war? I thought it was for the second? They don't make it clear enough.


adding on to what Mistakenplane said, the day marks the end of the first world war, but we are remembering the lives of all those who served our country in all the wars and things, including paying respects to those soldiers out there risking their lives today. This year just happens to be particularly special cause it's a round number so to speak.

my son is a marine cadet he spent the morning on HMS Invincible on the Thames and the whole crew stood together.

My younger son spent the sunday with air cadets on parade.

Bravo to every one who took part :applause:
