hey charley boy, if you have ever spent an extended period outside of your own country you understand why you tend to hang around what we are familliar with, im an aussie and most of my friends are aussies and kiwis, the reason for that is because brits are on a toatlly different wave length to us (not that it is a bad thing) and alot of the time pomes are not the the most sociable of people and they cant handle thier drink as well as we can, so by avoiding pomes we dont have to go home early because there is someone that cant walk because they are so drunk.

And as for being rowdy, we just know how to have fun you brits should try to free up that stiff upper lip and enjoy your selves bit more, we are just out for a good time. ive seen worse much behavior at soccer games than fro aussies in pubs, so please all of you give us a break!!! Happy Cool Dude

Oh mogwai, I'm sorry such loud mouths ruined your evening at your local. I live in a tourist area in Australia and it' doesn't seem to matter where people are from when they choose to be dickheads. It seems to me people feel that when away from witnesses that could dob them into their mothers, people will play up.

I am a bit hesitant to go to any of the pubs in london because of what I've heard regarding the reputation of australian young women and men in regards to their behaviour. I've already had comments made to me that Australian women flaunt themselves to the extent that they have made it difficult for other Australian women to safely go into pubs without being accosted. Apparently some aussie girls have left other aussie women with a reputation of being easy.

Well I hope to be a better ambassador. Wink

Maybe the Aussies are loud because we are unused to living in such a noisy city. Maybe the noise level of London has made us all a bit deaf.

At least twice per week I am woken up anywhere between 5:30am - 6:30am by English Garbage Collectors who seem completely ignorant of, or couldn't care less about the fact that picking a garbage bag out of a bin and throwing it onto the street so it can smash the glass within whilst yelling at his coworker across the street about his incredible sex life... this is what I hate the most about London and it's Englishmen here 99% of the time. You can tell by the accent and pasty white skin.

I have called the local councils who are all completely useless, nothing ever gets done. Beaurocratic incompetance - the second most hated thing about London.

I find that the only quiet English are the middle-upper class who seem to show very little emotion publicly at all... stiff upper lip and all that, old chap. You get you're chavs with blazing car sterios and fist fights and obscene language, just like we get our bogans who are in many ways much the same thing. No doubt, there are noisy people in all countries...

So it's cultures within cultures, etc.

By the way, next time an Aussie serves you at a bar, be happy, because your going to be served efficiently and with a !!!SMILE!!! Yes, public displays of emotion, shame shame... the service (or lack of) is the third most hated thing about London.

That said, I've lived here for a year and it has many things that are great (which is why I am still here), but that is for another topic, so no "go home then" tripe please, it's off topic.
