I'm curious, when people on here post they'd like to "go to the premiere" of a new movie in Leicester Square, do they mean :-

a) Walk Down the Red Carpet
b) Stand outside and watch the stars.

Just curious really.

I can't get tickets, apart from competitions and I can't really be bothered.

Well for me personally it is to watch the 'stars' of the film enter the theatre and to hopefully get a picture taken of them and possibly an autograph. I think it is quite special as access to go to premieres to do this is very limited and usually expensive. For big movies that on charity sites charge like 5 hundred plus for tickets, it's not something you can do that often.

Well an 'aspiring actress and hoping to walk down the red carpet in my own film one day' that I am, I'd much rather walk down the red carpet (or green in the case of the first premiere I went to...) then stand there for hours just hoping to get a glimpse of someone. Considering I live a good two hours or so from London, I'd prefer to have a decent trip by actually walking into the cinema with the stars and watching the film. Wouldn't pay tremendous amounts of money for one though. I won my first premiere :)

I'm not iterested in seeing the movie with the stars, I just want to see the celbs. So for me, it's just a matter of standing outside and getting a glimpse... or a photo.
Phil, thanks for your info on this website, your a fountain of information!

and something else i ve been in many premieres.i waited outside i didnt pay 500 pounds to see the movie with naomi watts for eg.and i i noticed this. The stars of the movie watch the movie for about 10 to 20 minutes and then they leave.like in the superman premiere they watched the movie for just few minutes and then the whole cast left.so why should i pay that kind of money to watch the movie with them when they dont watch the entire movie and they leave after 20 minutes.I find that silly.and the other thing you cant always get an autograph from them inside even if you payed 500 pounds to be inside the theatre with them.

Many people who go into the premiere are involved in the film or it's PR whilst a few just like to be able to say "I went to the 'insert name here' premiere" whilst others go because they support the charity benefitting the charity or just desperate to see the film first.

It's a usual no-no to ask for autographs or take photos at the premiere howevet lots of people do now take photos of the celebs as they introduce the film.

Personally, I prefer the NFT style previews with post film Q & A's with the cast or a director, such as the Penelope Cruz event coming up. Much more insightful into the film.

When I went to the Wallace & Gromit premiere the majority, if not all, of the cast were in there watching the film because they were coming out of the cinema when the film finished. Also, because it was a family film, a few of the cast and others had brought along their children and so they wouldn't bring a child along and then not even let them watch it. Besides, the premiere of the film they have made is probably the only chance/opportunity they will have to see it. Apart from waiting for the DVD to come out of course...

The NFT (whatever that is... :-? ) seems extremely interesting! Something I would be incredibly interested in and would prefer that to just 'spotting' the stars on the way in/out.

The only time I have known an actor to not watch their own film was in Birmingham for the Hitch premiere as Will Smith was attending 3 premieres in one day. Therefore he couldn't possibly sit in and watch all three. He did introduce the film however, as did the creaters of W&G.

I'm a big Harry Potter fan, so i've been to the premieres in London to check out all the celebs that come with such a big movie. Even Madonna showed up. However, I'd like to walk down the red carpet for once, just to get the experience.

Two of my friends were lucky at the last HP premiere. They were just standing there behind the barriers and some kind of security guard gave them tickets for the actual show. But to be honest I wouldn't be able to watch the film if I had all those stars sitting right next to me.

However, I'd love to attend the "Driving Lessons" premiere. That would be a good film to get the nice dress out for ;)

Don't know about that film premiere but it may be possible nearer the time.

Meanwhile, I'm organising for some LTRC members to attend a special film preview + Q & A event with Alan Rickman in early September (over 15's only I'm afraid)

I'm well over 15 (unfortunately). I went to an interview evening with Alan Rickman last year. It was really informative and he's an interesting man. Where will this new event be? What character does it have?
