Hi

I will be starting a job in September in offices just off Holborn and so will need to commute to either Chancery Lane or Holborn each day. However the trouble is, as I live in the North, my knowledge of London is very poor. Consequently I haven't a clue as to wear would be the best place for me live.

I am looking to rent in either a House Share or rent a 1 bedroom flat/house. There is also a possibility that i may rent a 2 bedroom house as my friend would also like to move to London, but doesn't yet have a job so he would move if he could afford to.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

After tax I'll be on about £345 per week so, will probably be able to go up to anything around £150-175 a week and obviously I don't mind spending a little more on rent if it saves me time, hassle and money of the tube.

Many thanks

I suggest you try to avoid the areas of London that dormitories with little going on locally.

Check out Clapham in South London on the Northern line. It is a lively buzzy place full of graduates who have got their first proper job.
