That film has some of the best scenes and quotes of my generation.

"Danya-san"
"Payn da fence"
"Wax on wax off"
"Fear does not exist in this dojo"

And to top it off it has the kick that got more people into karate lessons than any Bruce Lee movie, the crane kick.

Having said all of that, I still don't know the answer.

I think Mogwai meant Daniel-san, as in the polite way to address someone called Daniel in japanese. Say it in a Mr Miyagi accent and you get danyasan
