What are RSS feeds?

RSS feeds basically allow you to have the latest headlines from a website delivered to an RSS reader so that you can view them without visiting the site. RSS stands for 'Really Simple Syndication' and is yet another Internet acronym for what is essentially a simple XML (<- there's another one) file, a file created for computers to access and read.

How do you use RSS feeds?

The easiest way to get into using RSS is to either get yourself a desktop RSS aggregator, use one of the web based services such as Google or Yahoo, or if you're using a modern web browser use the built in RSS reader. Once you've got your reader/aggregator setup you'll need to know how to subscribe to a feed. This will be different for different readers but essentially involves giving the reader the URL of the RSS feed so that it knows where to grab the latest headlines.

So, to subscribe to one of the feeds above you just need to click on the link to the feed and then show your RSS reader where that page is, you can do this by copying the URL into your RSS reader or if using a web browser click on the RSS button that should activate once it recognises there is a feed.
