Franco Manca launches breakfast menu

Burning Torch Menu at Franco Manca Stratford

In just a month or so, the eyes of the world will be focused on a sporting megastructure: London's Olympic Stadium - the centerpiece of the 2012 Games. Just a few hundred yards away in the Westfield Stratford City development, renowned pizzeria Franco Manca is celebrating the greatest sporting event on earth by lighting the fire under its fabulous new Burning Torch Breakfast.

Forget the traditional British fry up. Franco Manca is instead offering a selection of the finest organic ingredients, flame baked in the restaurant’s special wood burning brick ovens.

Making up this unique breakfast menu are dishes such as Old Spot ham, egg and cherry tomatoes (£3.50), smoked cured bacon, Old Spot sausage and egg (£4.50) and baked wild mushrooms, egg and mozzarella (£4.50), all served with homemade sourdough bread baked with the residual heat from the ovens.

Washing down this fine fare is a selection of fresh juices, buffalo milk cappuccino and English Breakfast or Earl Grey teas.

Great ingredients have always been central to the Franco Manca experience, with provenance at every turn, and the Burning Torch Breakfast carries on this tradition. The sausage is made from hand sliced Gloucester Old Spot Pork created by Franco Manca founder Giuseppe Mascoli and his longtime collaborator David Tomlin, one of the founders of the Rare Bread Survival Trust. The eggs are of the Cotswold Legbar variety with their wonderfully rich and creamy golden yolks while the English strawberry jam hails from Thursday Cottage Organic Farm.
