New traditional afternoon tea at the Capital

British afternoon tea menu

On 28th January, The Capital Hotel, winner of the UK Tea Guild’s Award of Excellence for Top London Afternoon Tea 2012, is launching a traditional, British inspired Afternoon Tea menu. Created by acclaimed chef Nathan Outlaw and his head chef, Pete Biggs, the new Afternoon Tea will be served from 2.30pm-5.30pm daily, priced at £25 per person.

The new menu embraces the history and tradition behind Afternoon Tea and features classic British teatime treats and sandwiches using sustainably sourced fish and meat. These include Smoked Salmon & Watercress on wholemeal bread; Cornish Cracker Cheddar and Pickled Shallot served on white bread; and Crab Mayonnaise and Cucumber on wholemeal bread.
Freshly baked British sweet delights, including Homemade Eccles Cakes; Saffron and Custard Tarts; and Rhubarb and Ginger Trifle, are reminiscent of childhood treats. Traditional Afternoon Tea is completed with a choice of plain or fruit scones accompanied by the hotel’s homemade strawberry jam and clotted cream.

Afternoon Tea at the Capital is served in the relaxed and sophisticated sitting room, decorated in warm plum tones, with large windows overlooking Basil Street. Guests can also enjoy Afternoon Tea in The Capital Bar, which offers an impressive selection of champagnes, wines and cocktails for those who would like to make the most of their visit to The Capital.
