Coronation Afternoon Tea

Enjoy a fantastic afternoon tea at Fortnum & Mason's Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon

In March 2012 Her Majesty the Queen opened the Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon in honour of her 60 years as Monarch since her ascension to the throne in February 1952. This year sees the continuation of the celebrations, to mark the 60th anniversary since Her Majesty’s coronation at Westminster Abbey in June 1953. In honour of this unique anniversary, and as a mark of the special relationship which Fortnum and Mason and the Royal Family have enjoyed over the years, the Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon will host its own celebration, in the form of a luxurious Coronation Afternoon Tea. The original Fortnum and Mason decoration symbolises the floral emblems of England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales, wrapped around a delicate crown.

Head chef Jane Smyth has created a menu fit to celebrate the Queen’s 60years as Monarch, with a classic and elegant afternoon tea of savoury and sweet choices. The Coronation Afternoon Tea will include miniature beef wellington, Norfolk asparagus tartlet with hollandaise sauce and a smoked salmon and cucumber blini with sauce vierge and asparagus en croute and finish with an assortment of sweet treats, including Maids of Honour and Kent strawberries ; all of which were part of the original Coronation banquet. The tea is completed in true Fortnum and Mason fashion with a traditional scone with Somerset clotted cream and a choice of Fortnum & Mason preserves (apricot, lemon preserve, raspberry, strawberry and wild blueberry).
