City restaurant Angler at South Place Hotel is awarded a Michelin star

Angler, located within South Place Hotel in the City of London, is delighted to have been awarded its first Michelin star just one year after opening. The Michelin guide is arguably the most revered restaurant guide amongst chefs, restaurant critics and guests alike. Part of the D&D London restaurant group, Angler offers a sophisticated yet simple menu which focuses on seafood and shellfish from across the British Isles. Head chef Tony Fleming has created a menu designed to celebrate the best of Britain’s abundant variety of seafood and changes daily to reflect market availability.

Fleming comments: “Today, everyone at Angler is absolutely delighted as Michelin has such integrity and is the pinnacle of achievement for any chef. I believe it is consistency that has led to us winning a star within a year of opening. I am so proud of our team who work tirelessly to uphold this culinary standard of excellence. This is undeniably one of the best days of my career.”

Tony Fleming started his culinary career in London working as a chef de partie for Marco Pierre White at the Criterion, before moving on to the three Michelin-starred Oak Room. He worked for Richard Neat at the Oxo Tower and most recently as executive chef at One Aldwych before taking up his position at Angler in South Place Hotel.
