Yo-Yos at dawn… well, mid-morning

All In London treat Imperial College Freshers to Yo-Yo fest.

The All In London stand was over-run with students at Tuesday’s Fresher Fair all scrambling for their free All In London giveaway of a Yo-Yo.

All In London attended the fair on the Exhibition Road campus to promote London’s fastest growing information portal and to push the new website modules such as the News and Jobs sections. Students were impressed with the diversity of the website’s modules and the comprehensive coverage of Life In London; although many of the students were already frequent users of the site.

Yet who would of thought that the humble Yo-Yo would’ve stolen the show, designed for it’s 3 – 7 year old target demographic, there’s just nothing like plastic and string to pull in the crowds.
All In London staff were spectators both to the yo-yo-ing finesse of a handful of students and by the skullduggery and clandestine attempts of others to acquire more than the allotted one-yo-yo per student quota. Cheeky monkeys.

Yet the dream turned sour for students attending after 1:26pm; at 1:26pm GMT the last All In London Yo-Yo was handed out, and so it was with heavy hearts that late-attending freshers wandered around the remainder of the fair lack-luster, brow-beaten and world-weary. Late attendee, Beth Thompson wailed: “When I heard there were yo-yos I came as quickly as I could from the Sir Alexander Fleming Building,” wiping the tears from her eyes she concluded, “But I was just too late…I’m devastated.” Hard luck Beth.

Paul Carter, Sales and Marketing Partner for The Kolberg Partnership, the firm that owns and operates All In London commented, “Well, it’s only fair that I revel in an orgy of self congratulation… yes, yes, the yo-yos were all my idea. I am the best. Gold star for Paul Carter.”
