The 1970's retro pop-up space at The Jones Family Project

The Jones Family Project is a unique, multi-faceted independent restaurant and bar in Shoreditch, founded by a “modern family” of tight-knit friends who have created a perfect space to share their passion for food, drink and enjoying time with friends, colleagues and family.

The frequently morphing design and ever-evolving “project” concept means The Jones Family Project is exciting on every visit. Unexpected and fun creativity, which will fire your imagination and make you smile, is to be found in every corner of the two floors of the restaurant and bar including fantastical and whimsical design features, such as over-sized ceramic pots that tower over your head, a tree growing through a table, a graffiti covered street entrance, and a large, Tardis-esque subterranean restaurant hidden beneath the ground floor.

While the space is a unique project with something new to discover every time, there is always an emphasis on quality, particularly in terms of the food, wine list, craft beer and cocktails. Classic and inventive dishes are offered from morning until midnight, throughout all the diverse areas of the spacious restaurant and bar. Ingredients are carefully sourced from suppliers with sound practices and quality produce (including select UK artisan producers such as The Ginger Pig - which is exclusively supplying a special Pork Rib Eye cut for the menu, Olivier Bakery and Jumi Cheese) and cooked freshly to order by an experienced and attentive team of chefs on a state-of-the-art Josper oven.
The Jones Family Project is set to be the destination of choice for fatigued Londoners who complain of being bored by predictable venues. Guests are even welcome to change the surroundings to suit their mood by taking control of the record player at certain times during the week.

With its contemporary and eclectic décor, The Jones Family Project offers a flexible space ideal for both work and play with friends, colleagues and family; from business lunches and meetings to private events, parties, romantic dates or lazy brunches.
Whatever your mood or the purpose of your visit, there is an area to suit: booths for small groups, a large communal table under an indoor tree and even a “private office for one” in the window free for anyone to use. Hard-working types are supported with sockets under all tables to charge devices, plus a well-stocked bar which has shelves that swivel round from the daytime display of coffee and tea, to wine and spirits at night.
Downstairs there is a 'stage set' area which changes regularly with themes ranging from nostalgic Granny's Parlour to elegant Hunting Lodge. It will soon transform into a 1970s dining room with matching retro menus. Guests are encouraged to plunder their dressing up boxes and arrive dressed according to the theme of the stage set dining table.

Although the space and design features at The Jones Family Project will change, the welcome and service will always make you feel you are one of the family.

Aiming to encourage an inclusive community feel, The Jones Family Project was created by a group of friends who have come to know each other as family, having worked together for more than 20 years: Duncan Watts, Anna Watts, Amit Joshi and Cristiano Caputo. Duncan was one of the team behind Pitcher & Piano, which revolutionised bars by making them more inviting to women in the 1980s. Amit Joshi and Cristiano Caputo were also involved with Pitcher & Piano before setting up Rocket in 1999 with Duncan and Anna Watts. All of the businesses this foursome have been involved with have grown from small start-ups.
The Jones Family Project also supports artistic innovators and local creatives, commissioning skilled artists such as the talented Fanakapan, whose work transforms the venue’s Rivington Street entrance, and showcasing the stunning work of Fian Andrews with five giant 6ft ceramic pots.
Anna Watts, co-founder of The Jones Family Project said: “Shoreditch is such a vibrant area of London. We were inspired by the cultural hub and the diverse melting pot of people and professions to create an eclectic space which would always welcome guests as "one of the family".
With a focus on fantastic food, cocktails, wine and friendly service, as well as imaginative and original decor, there is something new to discover at The Jones Family Project on every visit.”
