Five-star London hotel launches ‘Alice’s Queen of Hearts’ Afternoon Tea

Taj 51 Buckingham Gate Suites and Residences is launching a brand new Alice in Wonderland themed Afternoon Tea. Available from the 3rd February, Alice’s Queen of Hearts Afternoon Tea will be served in the hotel’s restaurant Kona, and features beautifully designed pastries and scrumptious savoury treats inspired by the foul-tempered monarch herself from the Children’s classic story.

The Alice’s Queen of Hearts is strikingly presented on crockery that has illustrations from the Alice in Wonderland story, and the sweet treats sitting upon a glass checkerboard. The fine china plates are from the Victoria and Albert Museum collection celebrating the 150 years of Alice based on Sir John Tenniel’s original book illustrations. The all-important Queen of Hearts playing card will be spotted on every table, alongside a bespoke-designed top hat elevated above the table, the centre piece hand made for the hotel by a London based artist is suitable at any Mad Hatters Tea Party!

Alice’s Queen of Hearts will be available daily from 3rd February in Kona, with sittings at 12.30pm, 2.30pm and 4.30pm. The Afternoon Tea costs £45, and vegetarian and vegan versions of the tea will be available upon request 48 hours in advance. Kona is also the perfect location to celebrate a special occasion whether it may be a birthday or a baby shower, the restaurant has a semi-private dining area suitable for up to 12 people at the weekend, and extending to 16 people mid-week.
