I have been coming to this restaurant ever since I moved to the local area. I am always greeted by the owner/ manageress and once I have sat back and enjoyed my meal, the owner/ cook comes out to greet me too.
A fail safe, for good, value for money tapas. Tapas Variadas is one of the best tapas restaurants in the area. I usually go with my boyfriend and we order two dishes each. Only two you ask, well, the generous portions mean that 3-4 dishes are always enough between two. Don’t be afraid to ask for take-out for your left overs, you will be happily obliged. While you take your time to choose, snack on the olives, tomato crostini and bread you are brought to your table. Try some of Marilyn’s homemade chilli and herbed olive oil with your bread. On the hungrier days, we share the best dish on the menu, Daily Special, Seafood Platter for two (£12.95). A generous platter of tiger prawns, juicy fresh battered cod pieces, whitebait and calamari on a bed of salad topped with a load of fried courgette shavings. Supplement it with their tortilla/ patats bravas and you’re sorted. Always bought out with great aplomb and drawing hungry glances from other diners, the seafood platter is the way to go. Another recommendation is their seafood, bought fresh from suppliers, the monkfish and prawn skewers and their sardines are always generously sized and deliciously grilled to perfection. A fantastic all round local restaurant, with great intimate atmosphere and no pretensions. Good for couples, groups and families. They also cater for large parties. We held a party here for 20 people and they were wonderful. A meal for two with coffees, around £25.

Recommended by a friend I first visited this restaurant last Tuesday. I was pleasantly surprised to find how warm the atmosphere was (despite some of the reviews on this site). I was welcomed at the door and shown to a cosy table.
My partner and I ordered the tortilla and were amazed that we received a whole one(some restaurants only provide you with 2 slices). It was fresh and light and extremely moreish (I took my leftovers home!)
We also ordered the mixed grilled fish and again were amazed by the selection and the freshness of the fish.
Definitely value for money - I will 100% go there again!

I visted this tapas restaurant for my xmas party and I couldn't have chosen a better place!
Extremely reasonable prices and delicious food made this a perfect choice. My party ordered approx 2 tapas each and we were not disappointed! Highly recommended were the Spanish meatballs and the paella (YUM!)
It did not offer a bring your own policy (as advertised on this site), nevertheless the price of the house wines were extremely reasonable in comparison with some of the other places in Northcote Road.
Highly recommended!

I visited there on the 13th November and found it amazing. We ordered the mix platter of fish and it was a stunner to look at, a pleasure to eat and soo reasonably priced! Service was efficient and atmosphere warm and welcoming.
The initial review was disconcerting so we didn't know if we shoud go but we are happy that we did and we will visit again soon!

Our experience at this tapas restaurant was pretty dreadful. The waitress was very rude and exceptionally aggressive when we had to complain about the fact we couldn't eat some of the dishes as they tasted so bad. My guess is that they cook with overused oil and poor quality ingredients. I would not venture into this tapas restaurant again if it was the last restaurant on earth.

We go to this restaurant from time to time as it's round the corner, and I think it's fairly good value. Up until the last time we went the service has been fine, but on our last visit it was pretty unfriendly. Everything we ordered arrived on time and was nice, but the waitress (possibly the owner's wife? Not sure) was just so grumpy! Got rushed out the door which was a shame. It was 11.15, but this wouldn't be a problem in Spain. Improve the service and the patatas a la bravas (which are a bit rubbish and can be great) and this could be lovely. Less than £40 for two with a bottle of wine.

I was interested to read the other review for this resturant and it seems the service has not improved for a long time. The main waitress was rude, one of the dishes we ordered never arrived but they tried to charge us for it. I woudl advise avoiding this restuarant!

Unfortunately we did not have a good experience at this restaurant. The customer service was truly awful and disrepectful. The food was quite nice, but not great.
The atrocious customer services means my friends and I will not be going back to this restaurant.
