S & M Cafe
British Restaurant in Portobello
S & M is very much part of the Portobello culture – a regular hang out for the Notting Hill residents as well as market visitors. The ethos is unpretentious – what you see is what you get: big portions of great quality traditional British grub, friendly service, a relaxed and informal environment and a small bill.
Without doubt one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had in London!
One English breakfast complete with one slice of bacon, one sausage, one egg, one 50p sized mushroom, a spoonful of beans and one miniature grilled tomato and one Vegetarian breakfast with an inedible charred sausage, two blackened, slimy, tasteless musrooms, a single egg (additional egg £1.00) and same meagre bean and tomato ration.
To top all this off, a small glass each of orange and apple juice (not fresh) cost £5.00!
Really aimed at tourists drawn to the market, lured in by the 'British' theme and not expected to return.
If you want a decent breakfast in the area, head to 'Rachel's' just up Portobello, or 'Lucky 7 Diner' a five minute stroll away in Westbourne Park.
You have been warned!
