Came here with my friends on Sunday, very disappointed with the service we received. We were seated quite quickly which was good but the praise ends here, unfortunately. We were a group of five, three of us ordered meals and the remaining two ordered the Chinese tea.

However, we were met with incredible contempt. The waitress who was taking our order seemed very impatient, gave us attitude and made us feel stupid when inquiring about certain ingredients and allergens within the menu. Worst of all, she told us that we were taking up space in the restaurant just because two out of five of us did not decide to order any food.

I understand not wanting people to loiter, especially during busy hours when people need the tables, however we were told that they urgently needed the table, but it was late in the evening and service seemed slow, nobody was entering the restaurant or being seated when we were leaving.

Plus, the fact that every one of us ordered drinks should have been enough to justify our places at the table, it wasn’t as if we were seated without having ordered anything. The tea my friends ordered was served in a teapot and was hot, so it would have taken time for them to finish it.

We were essentially kicked out, promptly ushered out of the restaurant with very little care, not even being given the opportunity to finish the drinks that we paid for.

I doubt that many people perusing that area of Chinatown look at reviews before entering a restaurant, but if anyone considering this spot is reading this, based on purely the service alone I do not recommend it at all. I have no opinions on the food seeing as we didn’t even get to eat anything, but judging by many other reviews of this restaurant, it’s best you find another place to eat.

A horrible excuse for a restaurant, terrible service, terrible food and terrible seating.

I went to this restaurant last Saturday, and even though I asked for a vegetarian dish (since I don't eat meet), I found a piece of meat half way through my meal.

When I pointed this out to the waiter, he said very rudely 'what do you want me to do?' and suggested that the bit of meet may have been flicked from my friends plate (impossible as it was a completely different type of meat),he was only willing to offer me the soft drink for free and after a discussion with him, he scrapped very violently my dish from his note, and snapped the my dish and my friend's dish off the table aggressively. Then he put down the bill on our table and said 'Pay and go' in the most rude way. I actually confronted him and he was even ruder! At no point a received an apology from my waiter or anyone else that worked at the restaurant. Moreover, when I asked to see the manager, I was told there wasn't one.

Not only the service is horrid at this restaurant, the food is terrible too (and coming from a family of chefs I certainly know good food).

Please, visit any other Chinese restaurant in the area, there are some really lovely ones! Unfortunately I made the mistake of wanting to try somewhere new.

Hope this review helps other people not to make the same mistake!

One of a kind, most realistic Chinese restuarant for many a mile. Extremely good food with service second to none. The place to visit if you are in the area or even a place to visit if you are not in the area.

This is place is indeed a venerable institution. It's been serving high quality char siu and duck for decades.
In fact, it appears to be one of the only places in ChinaTown that has any culinary credibility.
Great place for the simple favourites with no frills service. Be prepared to share a table with strangers.
