A 2hr journey, to visit Hampton Court Palace, demanded upon arrival, refreshment and a loo. We were looking for a pub but happened upon Blubeckers - what a stroke of luck!
Arriving slightly after the midday rush, we were greeted with smiles and utter politeness, as we asked if a table for 5 was possible. With a moments thought and a little re-arranging of furniture, we were escorted to the beautiful upper floor, via the spiral staircase (they have a straight one too) and minstrels gallery, to our river view, window table. Having been offered liquid refreshment, the waitress left us to the menus. Normally, we can choose quite quickly but faced with such a varied and delicious selection, all of us were finding it hard to pick. We were 3 adults and 2 boys of 15 years and such was the dilemma, that the waitress had to return twice more, before we were ready. We had Sea Bass, Steak & Ale Pie, Chicken Fillet, Surf and Turf Burger and Calves Liver in Plumb Sauce. Each plate was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection.
The atmosphere was of relaxed, welcoming charm and I suspect it is lovely and toasty in Winter.
Following the main course, we decided to plunge for the ordeal of choosing desert. Faced with another superb variant of choice, we were all happily sated after our selections of Sticky Toffee Pudding, Eton's Mess and Apple Crumble with custard. Whilst relaxing with coffee afterwards, we watched the movement over Hampton Court Bridge, the boats traveling the river and people coming and going from Hampton Court Palace via the main drive way.
As a family, we can not recommend Blubeckers highly enough. The staff were lovely, the surroundings delightful, the location excellent and the high quality of the food, will definitely have us visiting again, soon.
Blubeckers offer a relaxed and friendly location for drinkers and diners in a variety of attractive buildings throughout the home counties.
