I probably first went to Dolce Vita about 20 years ago, and I used to go quite regularly for a time. I hadn't been for quite a long time when I went in about five years ago. I can't remember much about the meal that evening, but the evening itself was incredible as I spent it with the lovely lady who is now my wife, and my life changed instantly. So when I was planning where to go after our wedding last September there was only one choice. Melino the boss couldn't have been more helpful, he basically asked me how much I wanted to spend and came up with a menu with three choices of starter and main course for guests to choose on the night - I'd expected them to want people to choose in advance. Our party numbered 44, we took over the far end of the restaurant beyond the archway in the middle. It was an absolutely brilliant evening, and I'm getting prickly eyes just thinking about it. The service was simply brilliant, they were friendly, efficient and seemed genuinely pleased that we were there. We've been a good few times since that first visit together and never had anything other than good food and friendly efficient service.
Some people may feel that this restaurant is a bit old-fashioned, perhaps it is but none the worse for that in my view. Well done Melino and crew and don't change a thing!
