What an amazing range of reviews! We ate here on 8th February on a theatre week-end and it was excellent. Some of the best veal I have ever eaten and the oranges in Grand Marnier dessert - yum!!

Would definitely go again but would try to be seated upstairs as where we were downstairs was a bit bland but we could see the chef cooking.

Outstanding value pre dinner menu

Terrible food, bad service, tacky decor please dont bother this is the worst place i have ever eaten in.
Was bought the wrong food and had to argue with the waiters for a good 5 minutes to get it taken away and was then told we didnt get the food we wanted because the chef had changed his mind as to what he was cooking that day.No apology given and the food i did get to eat was horrible stale bread rolls etc the list goes on and on.

My friend and I popped in to the Aurora for what was supposed to be a light bite during a business trip, we ended up staying for a 3 course meal!

As soon as you walk into the restaurant you feel like part of the family, its very quaint, traditional and above all, authentic. Its very obvious its a family run affair and this is what makes it so unique.

The food is fresh, tasty and comforting... like good Italian food should be! I would recommend the Penne Carbonara... Its delish!

We were served instantly and the food arrived within 10 minutes of ordering(its wasnt very busy though). The waiter was enthusiatic and pleasant to talk to, if a little cocky at times.

The only reason why i have given it a 9 rather than a 10 this time, is due to the fact the old chap(who i'm guessing owns it) was arguing with his staff/family member in the bar quite loudly at one point which, in such a cosy establishment, isnt always ideal...

Aside from the latter point, i'd say its one of the best restaurants ive been to in London... and one of the cheapest! I'll definitely be back the next time im in Covent Garden!

Lush food, rude and pushy waiters let it down a bit though!

Went to London to see a show and wanted a quick bite to eat beforehand.
Sorry to say that the service was appalling and our waiter incredibly rude and very patronizing towards us.
We are all waitresses ourselves and under no circumstances would we have treated our guests the way we were treated.
I sure hope not all Italians are like that. And in my opinion the only reason why this restaurants gets any custom is due to the fact they are close to a theatre.
A brush up on this long term waiter we had is in order and friendly service is a must!
Rant over!

I was taken here by old friends who use the Aurora regularly, and was very happy with the the food, house wine and service. Not a lot of polish, but friendly and reasonable prices.
I am going again next week!!

I was amazed to see the review that Royphish (I think rightly named) posted. I have eaten at this excellent restaurant for 25 years. The food, staff and service have been first class, the prices compare very favourably with their counterparts in the West End and the waiters are always very attentive and treat the customers "as one of the family". My verdict is the guilty one in this assessment is Mr. Royphish.

I have been eating regularly at the Aurora for over 15 years and it has always been my first choice when eating in the West End. It is a family run restaurant and the staff, who are very friendly and attentive, treat their customers both new and regular as if they are family.

Prices are reasonable - quality is consistently high - portions are more than adequate.

Pre-theatre time is busy but they will always strive to find you a table if they can. Service is quick so you will never be late. They are open late so you can call in for a full meal or a plate of excellent pasta after your theatre visit.

All in all the best Italian restaurant in the Strand / Covent Garden area. Try them.

Reasonably priced and good food, spoiled somewhat by the attitude of the waiters. One in particular seemed to feel he was doing me a favour by serving me.
There are many better reataurants in the area.
