I used to go there years ago and it was great pizza with good service at good price. I was there recently and it was below average with really bad service. I think the positive comments must be from Hoxton Furnace themselves... Avoid.

The pizza here is amazing! There are loads to choose from, you really are spoilt for choice. My boyfriend really enjoyed his pasta, and I tried some too and, it really was tasty. The atmosphere in this place is lively and fun, and the staff are very welcoming. We only moved to London a few months ago, but we'll definitely be going back again. Oh and the tiramisu, well that was DIVINE!

I have been going to the Furnace for 10 years. You get what it says on the tin - great pizza and an authentic local restaurant. However if you delve deeper there is even more to it than that. The wine list is stunning in its authenticity - not brought from the usual suspects wine suppliers but with insight and passion. The daily non pizza dishes are superb. As I overheard some one pasing by the retauarnat yesterday - "all the locals go in here - its an institution". Some people get it - some dont. If you want pizza express go there!

I went for the second time last night. The first time I went I asked for extra chilli on my pizza. The pizza arrived without the extra chilli. Last night our main courses arrived before our starter. In short the service here is terrible. A discresionary 12.5 % was added to our bill which we asked the waiter to remove. I guess it would be ok if the food was amazing but it was pretty average to be honest
I definatly would not waste any more time or money at the hoxton furnace.

For my girlfriends Birthday, I booked a table for 15 at The Furnace in Hoxton Square.

Anyway, so we got in sat down, it was busy but not full. We waited 45 minutes for our starters. Then we had another 45mins to an hour wait for our main course. In that time many of our friends had consumed a lot of alcohol and some had missed their last train home. At no point did any of the staff or management offer any kind of apology or compensation for this farce. Infact I took off the £35 service that was cheekily added by them.

The food was so so, nothing to write home about. So I would strongly suggest that you steer clear of this place. Let a professional restaurant elsewhere look after you.
