Makiyaki

Maki Yaki is the best sushi restaurant I've been to - ever - bar an amazing sushi place in Miami. It has rolls I'd never heard of and combinations you'd never think of and everything is delicious. The soft shell crab rolls are exquisite. We use it a lot as a take away and they deliver on time to your house. Just tried out the lunch set menu which is great value - under £10 per person for a beautifully presented tray of different dishes and the service is very unassuming and pleasant. Love having this place down the road.

Maki Yaki makes the best sushi in the UK. Since relocating to southwest London from Manhattan last year, I have been searching for quality Japanese food, and I found it in my own backyard! It's rolls are inventive and beyond tasty (including a "KFC Roll" with crispy fried chicken, for those weary of raw fish). The staff is attentive, and it's unassuming location means that there are always tables, and you can enjoy a quiet, comfortable meal. It's rare to find such good food without all the fuss of booking weeks in advance, snooty service, and a que upon arrival. While Maki Yaki is not a bargain (20-30 pounds a person), it's money well spent.
