I went to the launch of utopia back in January and I was amazed at what they had done to it, I think it looks really good, very stylish. The evening was a lot of fun; it was a bit daunting with all the different celebs, including an O.K. photographer. (But after a few cocktails. that soon faded. lol)
I actually just took my mother dearest there for a meal on mothers day, and I have to say the staff were brilliant they really helped make my mum feel special and for it to be a night to remember.
They explained all our inquires about the menu very well, (& even brought my mum free samples to help her decide) bless. He also suggest which wines went with what food (unfortunately no samples though. lol)
And it was cheaper then expected (but shhhh don’t tell mum)

As a Persian family we have visited One Restaurant (which has now changed its name to Utopia) many times over the years and have taken our foreign visitor also.

Since the management/Restaurant name change, when you enter into the Restaurant you don't feel that you're in a Persian Restaurant. The lighting is very dim, making it very difficult for you to see what you're eating!
In the past traditional iranian music would be played and persian ornaments and decor were visible but everything has been removed now.

The menu wasn't very varied, especially on the Persian side of things.

We visited last week (February 2009)and the food that we ate, including a starter of cold khasgh bedemjoon (aubergine, whey walnut and onion dish) and mains of chicken and mince lamb kabab's were reasonable but the meat was not warm enough.

The dessert menu was very poor. In the past you were given the option of tradional persian sweets including zolobeeyeh with your tea which was very authentic.

The prices i.e. for main courses were not too expensive e.g. for two people overall we payed £30.00 including starter for one person to share, main courses for two people and soft drinks and tea.

We don't feel that the Restaurant should be under a PERSIAN RESTAURANT list and we will try to explore other traditional Persian resturants in the future.

we went there just 2 says ago,the food was good, the staff were really polite and friendly.but the music was really bad,I mean really bad.and the place was quite,it was just us,so it wasnt really fun.but the place it self was really good and posh.I'd say for once,it was good.

We went to this atmospheric restaurant last night and had a brilliant time. The food was great. I had a fabulous sabsi which I would recommend to anybody. The bread was freshly made and we couldn't stop eating it! The grilled seabass was excellent and the finely chopped salad was delicious. My friend's grilled baby lamb fillet and rice was a treat and I generously helped myself to it! The waitress was helpful and advised us on a great wine choice, Felluga, which was reasonably priced. There was live music and I managed to dance off the calories. I'd recommend this place to anybody.

I went last night with 5 freinds.
The wine was £39.00 per bottle, tasted like vinger (1997 mansur, Lebanese wine).
The main course was not good at all...the only good thing was the bread....
You have a waitress standing by your table watching you all the time and we have to tell her 2 times not to remove the plates from our table because we have not finished eating.......As a whole...very very poor and expensive....
