Had lunch here this afternoon. The burger was disgusting and the manager was extremely rude. Definitely wouldn't recommend.

Chose this as a venue for a lovely Sat afternoon with my family. I'm afraid that other than the table being outside and this even being spoilt by clubbing music there is little to 'write home' about. More than anything I was really disappointed with the quality of food. I ordered a burger while others opted for the Italian classic - pasta with pesto. Both were equally dire. The burger was overcooked, rubbery and had a quality of a mass produced piece one would expect at a sub standard festival. Pesto was dry, poorly seasoned and disappointing. Don't go, there are plenty other good options.

Avoid this place if you value your bank balance!!

We visited in May for a meal and drinks outside.
We were swiftly seated and we ordered a GLASS of wine each. Once the drinks arrived, we placed our order. When the food arrived, my partner noticed that his steak was cooked medium-well done instead of very rare as requested. He pointed this out to a member of staff shortly afterwards. In fairness, they offered to replace it, but as we were in a hurry we explained that and asked for some Bearnaise sauce to make the steak more bearable. The chips looked and tasted dry. The overall presentation of the food was poor and the steaks rather meagre which was a shame considering we where paying typical prices, for this area. When the 'Bearnaise' sauce arrived it was immediately apparent that it was cheap BBQ sauce in a small ramekin.
When we asked for the bill, we mentioned that we were unhappy with the quality of the food to our waitress who appeared unfriendly and unapologetic. We asked to speak to a manager who was equally rude and told us we should not have eaten the food if we were unhappy about it.
He then handed us the the bill which was immediately paid. We then noticed that they had charged us for a whole BOTTLE of wine each instead of a glass! We were clearly quite annoyed by this point. The manager tried to talk his way out of it before reluctantly giving us the overpaid amount in cash. He was not prepared to provide any discount for the poorly cooked steak.
A month later, a friend decided to have birthday drinks there, despite our warning.
Guess what....the same happened again!
The waitress was very rude but could not explain where the extra £45 of drinks had come from.
They seem to have a habit of adding extra items to the bill. I'm sure many people do not check the bill before paying allowing such 'errors' to go unnoticed again and again.

We had a great late afternoon at what this venue. What is mainly an outdoor venue we found it on a rainy day and took shelter inside. What a stunning venue, candle lit, warm and looking like a farm house kitchen. The food was fresh and greatly presented and the Mediterranean staff made us feel like we we on holiday again, great service.
For what is, i guess, a great summer venue this is also an amazing hidden gem inside for those cold days.... Maybe I shouldn't be telling.............

Our recent experience with the Marketpleace is absolutely apalling and I would never go back there again! Ever! The staff there is so rude that they ruined our day out last week. We did not mind waiting for 25 min in the queue to be seated, but once we ordered our food it was a substandard experience - rushed orders, wrong food, everything seemed like too much hassle for staff, no customer service whatsoever! I did not feel like I was in Chelsea, or that I was a customer. Such a shame that they occupy that spot - they do not deserve it.

Please note the Market Place Restaurant has been under new management since 2009, I see your review is from 2007. I'm sure if you re-visited you would have a dramatically improved experience. We pride ourself on our service and quality.

..its 1 of my favourite stops in the summer when shopping or strolling the Kings Rd. This scenic oasis is set inside a square of viby outlets. Surrounded by hedges it masks the parade of the street, has large umbrella for shade if you have sensitive skin or children. A large portion of this al fresco scene is open to the skies for basking in the sun. I often stop for a quick lunch as the food is fast and fresh, the EXCELLENT cappacino is possibly the best in London. They have a moderate to good wine selection too. Whenever I have to impress some one without breaking the bank I do the famouse Kings Rd and lunch at the Market Place, & have never been dissapointed. During the cooler mont
