The Algarve Restaurant

We were delighted to find this gem of a restaurant! The fish stew (mullet, prawns, rice, fresh chilli and veg with herbs) was delicious and that pudding (sort of meringue with caramel and nutmeg custard) melted in the mouth and made you lick your lips. The wine, port and digestif as recommended by our friendly waiter were the perfect choice. We will be back soon and bringing all our friends! They do breakfast and lunch too, which would be ideal after a walk on Wandsworth Common.

The Algarve restaurant bar and grill was a nice place to eat. The restaurant was warm and cosy, with good service. The food was nice and spicy, especially the peri peri chicken. A good place for those who like a bit of spice or two.

Even though we were the only diners initially the ambience was good with great lighting and Portugese music. Head waiter (owner?) was great, young trainee waiter a tad unsure. Food is absolutely gorgeous. We had grilled sausage as a starter (tacky presentation but fun in a flaming terracotta pig) and shared delicious monkfish. Toilets very clean. Good portugese wine choice. Wish it was busier overall as it deserves to do well...but maybe the wrong area?!

We went to the Algarve restaurant for mother's day. It was very busy and this seemed to rather stretch the kitchen and the waiters. But the food is very good and we have been before and really liked it, so I would not let this put me off. It is really worth a try, the fish is fantastic
