Snuggled behind Angel Tube station, where Torrens Street meets City Road, Brewhouse & Kitchen - Islington pub/restaurant is a great place to meet. Whether you are popping in for an after-work drink, a relaxed Sunday lunch or meeting up with a group of friends for a celebratory dinner you will be warmly welcomed. As you enter the double doors, the first thing you will notice is the relaxed but friendly atmosphere and possibly the delicate smell of hops, gently brewing in the micro-brewery nestled in the far corner of this stylish, yet cosy pub/restaurant.

Choose to grab your place at the bar and feast your eyes on the amazing display of international beers and wines, seat yourself at one of our comfy booths to dine, or perhaps you may choose to sit at one of our high tables and enjoy watching the busy Head Brewer as he works his magic.

If you fancy taking advantage of our brewing expertise further, enjoy our menu with beer recommendations, occasional beer/food matched events, learn more about the world of beer through a tutored tasting, or if you fancy becoming a brewer yourself, we offer ‘Brewery Experience Days’ – imagine brewing your very own beer?

However you decide to enjoy Brewhouse and Kitchen – Islington, you can be sure to be looked after by our friendly, knowledgeable staff.

All In London Review

A good range of beers but overall the Brewhouse and Kitchen suffers from a touch of inauthenticity

Review Image
If you like your craft beer to be brewed by the venue selling it then you’ll appreciate the Brewhouse and Kitchen in Angel. And if you prefer to find a diverse range of beers from around the world on the menu, then the Brewhouse will serve you well too. So there it is; all beer lovers will go away with a smile.

Located just around the corner from Angel Tube in a prime – and expensive - location, the Brewhouse and Kitchen is a new restaurant that must be expecting big things; a hunch that is confirmed when I see the size of the place. Somewhere between a gastro pub, a TGI Friday and a Harvester (without the salad bar) it is the kind of place you might take you’re family for a night out. Inoffensive but slightly inauthentic, it is a restaurant that demands the use of the word ‘nice’.

When it comes to the menu, the Harvester analogy alarm rings once again. Beer-can chicken, burgers, ham, egg and chips, corn-on-the-cob and seafood chowder all feature. We opt for the ‘Ridiculous Burger’, which happens to be as ridiculous as the name suggests. Two huge patties, cheese and bacon would be a test for even the biggest mouth and we end up tackling it with knife and fork. But the meat is nowhere near juicy enough, far too grey and seems to offer the texture of beef without any of the flavour – and where’s a brioche bun when you need one? The beer-can chicken looked more impressive but you’ll need two or three of you to take on the whole bird, corn and chips that come together as a set.

After sampling some of the Brewhouse Beers, I went back to the tried and trusted perfection of a Westmalle Dubbel. Neither the Brewhouse‘s Hitchcock English style ale or their Chaplin American IPA inspired another serving but there is at least a large selection to get through.

If you’re looking for a boozy meal with friends or family in an informal setting then the Brewhouse and Kitchen will do just the job but there are certainly better specialist beer venues out there.
