Not quite a pub but not a bar either, the Culpeper walks its own path
The City is lined with pubs and bars appealing to a type of worker who appreciates the finer things in life but few deliver the package with such style as the Culpeper. Located on Commercial Street, the Culpeper is a pub that looks like it was designed by committee – in a good way – who took all the most appealing aspects of contemporary pub design and melded them to their will to create this stunning spot.
Not quite a pub but not a bar either, the Culpeper walks its own path, a path where floor-to-ceiling windows, chandeliers with glowing filaments, parquet flooring, exposed brickwork and dapper industrial fittings are encouraged. Naturally, such a stylish outfit has a clientele worthy of its interior spectacle – and by that we mean that its full of well-dressed, well-heeled looking individuals who only add to the vibe.
Cocktails, craft beer, premium Japanese whisky and good wine is there for all behind the bar, while a kitchen serves modern gastro cuisine to the ground floor pub, a separate first floor dining room and a private rooftop conservatory that seats twelve. And if you’ve partaken in a little too much bonhomie and you’re feeling worse for wear then you can even take a room in one of the Culpeper’s immaculately designed second floor bedrooms. How’s that for the whole package?
