All In London Review
Tasty food that’s a level above your local take out
One of the chain’s 13 branches is situated across the road from Trafalgar Square on Cockspur Street, serving up what it claims to be the best Thai food in London, using authentic ingredients flown in daily and freshly prepared by Thai chefs.
The experience is certainly authentic, with decor straight out of a temple and a woman in traditional dress playing Thai music throughout the meal. The menu sticks to the Thai classics with a few additions of chef’s specials, such as a slow braised beef in aromatic coconut reduction, black cod with sweet chilli sauce and chargrilled lobster tails o na bed of blanched baby spinach infused with shredded crabmeat in a creamy coconut curry.
We went straight in for a portion of juicy chicken satay skewers, drenched in a sweet and tangy sauce and a helping of crisp and hot salt and pepper squid, with just the right amount of chilli to give it a pleasing kick. My date plumped for a dish of Drunken Noodles, flat rice noodles stir fried with beef, fresh chillies, green vegetables, long beans, garlic and basil leaves, which was apparently delicious though nowhere near as hot as expected considering the two chilli rating. My Pad Thai was deliciously moreish (though the portion size was perfect, I was just being piggy….) and much better than one previously sampled at a much more expensive establishment. We accompanied dinner with a couple of zingy, fruity cocktails - the ideal match.
For authentic, tasty food that’s a level above your local take out, Thai Square’s 13 branches around London are a tasty alternative. My only gripe would be the space, or lack thereof; the Trafalgar Square branch did feel like a bit of a squeeze and at one point I could hear the conversation of the table next to me over my own.

Really nice, fresh interior and great food! I had a veggie thai salad which was excellent (although pretty spicey!) and everyone I was with also said that they really enjoyed their food too. The price was also very reasonable particularly given its central location - lots of things for around £6.
Have your say
