Not very good now they have changed owners and the name. Main courses in particular are expensive. Service was actually rude. Not going back.

I booked the restaurant after reviewing the Escale website and reviews. I only realised later that it had changed ownership and name to Pomegranate, and decided to take a chance - this proved to be a mistake.

The menu has significantly decreased in size, the choice of starters in particular is quite disappointing. They have also stopped serving fish which was a bit of a highlight in some of the reviews of the last restaurant that I had read.

The starters were actually quite good - the falaffel in particular. However the mains were fairly poor. They got 2 of the orders wrong, the food was pretty bland, and my yoghurt kebab was a few bits of meat swimming in a soup of yoghurt - it was awful.

The worst part of the evening was the prices which are absurd. The main courses are typically £16 each - this is 60% more than Escale was charging, and you need to order side orders with many of the dishes. Don't get me wrong, I am happy to pay high prices in the right restaurant - but this is not it. The starters are £6 each which is not too bad, but if you want to get the selection of starters, it's £15 per person!!!

The ambience of the restaurant is also not great. The biggest problem is that they have installed a flame grill where the bar used to be. The extractor couldn't deal with the smoke fully which was causing some of our table to cough a bit.

The final problem with the evening was the service - not only were they quite rude to me when I said they had got my order wrong, but on leaving when we complained the waiter said "the only thing I won't accept is arrogance". The closest I have got to Basil Fawlty in my life - brilliant!

So to sum up, if you want to spend £16 on a chicken shwarma, spend the evening breathing in smoke, served by Basil Fawlty himself, then I highly recommend this restaurant. If not, avoid..
