Kebab shops are to Whitechapel Road what curry houses are to Brick Lane, but without the irritating touts standing outside each establishment. Most are no-frills takeaway joints offering Middle Eastern or Bengali cuisine; among our favourites are Khan’s Kebab House and Kolapata. If you visit during the day you can also pop into Whitechapel Market, which stocks every Asian ingredient imaginable.
