Eat fancy fried chicken

This must try is connected to: Avenue

Fried chicken has moved away from greasy high street takeaway shops and onto the menus of hip restaurants.

It's so trendy it can even be found in the super-posh neighbourhood of St. James's, where the upmarket American-inspired Avenue have just launched a new fried chicken menu. You'll find treats like moreish crispy chicken skins, popcorn chicken with BBQ sauce, spicy wings with a delicious, chunky blue cheese sauce, and that perennial favourite, buttermilk-fried chicken with uber creamy, southern-style gravy. There's even a burger made with grilled chicken that's smothered in hot chipotle mayo and stuffed in a glazed brioche bun.

Make sure you leave room for the chicken and cinnamon waffles, complete with a jug of maple syrup to drizzle over. Their ex-Benares mixologist has created a special cocktail to pair with the menu, a passionfruit and chilli chutney concoction with Belvedere vodka that's sweet with a kick. The menu is available throughout May and June.
