Experience the life of an 18th century silk weaver

Take a few steps back into the past

Where: Dennis Severs' House

This Spitalfields townhouse offers a glimpse into the life of a Huguenot family of the 1700s, who typically were employed in the silk weaving trade and had fled from their native France after being persecuted for their religion. More than just a museum, the guided tour here is an immersive drama for visitors to experience what day to day life was like for the fictional Jervis family, with each of the ten rooms offering a different smell, sight or sound. Dennis Severs himself was an American artist who was fascinated by British history.
