Initially set up to provide a platform for Afro-Caribbean artists, 198 Gallery now focuses on showing work from emerging artists that focuses on cultural identity. A social space and artist’s gallery, 198 Gallery is one of Herne Hill’s foremost visual arts spaces.
Currently showing the exhibition Rockers, Soulheads & Lovers: Sound Systems Back in Da Day, photos of dancehall culture from the early 1950s to the 1980s, the gallery is a free way to see great art and connect with the diverse range of work coming out of London’s neighbourhoods and beyond.
